ThermoBuild homes are more than just the sum of their parts.
We are a local team building high performance and passive homes across Victoria’s Surf Coast. Our foremost belief is in homes that have a low environmental impact, perform comfortably and are healthy to live in.
Our Mission
At ThermoBuild, we are driven by a mission to build sustainable, energy-efficient homes that promote health and well-being while exceeding client expectations. As a certified Passive House builder, we aim to:
- Lead the industry in eco-friendly construction across Southwest Victoria.
- Set new standards for quality, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
- Educate and inspire communities on the benefits of sustainable living.
Our Founder
ThermoBuild started at the passion project of our founder, David Stewart – a certified Passive House Tradesperson, whose approach to building has been shaped by his world view. He started his construction career at RMIT University with a degree in Applied Science (Construction Management) and then working with one of Australia’s largest commercial builders. However, a strong desire to build at a tangible level led him to undertaking a carpentry apprenticeship and eventually gaining his Domestic Builder’s Licence.
In 2022, David was privileged to fulfil a long held ambition to live and work in Austria and Germany, making the pilgrimage to the epicentre of PassivHaus construction to learn from the experts. He has since been able to bring this knowledge back to Victoria to inform how we can build to better suit our climate, environment, and personal needs.
ThermoBuild has now partnered with David’s sister Joanna at Nest Cabinetry to be able to fully deliver projects using local craftspeople from structure to fitout and everything in between. Not only do they share three decades of experience between them, but they’re also fiercely passionate about high quality and low energy buildings. David and Joanna are passionate about their craft and minimising their environmental impact.
Residing on the Surf Coast, we understand what makes this region so special, and how that can be best reflected in your forever home – everything from the finish, to the feel, to the function.
ThermoBuild may be a young company, but other than our ethos – there’s nothing green about our team.
Servicing the Colac Otway surf coast and Geelong region, we thrive in project teams and collaborate exceptionally with all stakeholders.
